Summary: | Pancasila values embrace the sublime values and form the basis of an Indonesian State if applied consistently by Indonesian government officers in their decision making process as this would lead to the creation of a just and welfare society. These values should have been enculturated in the Indonesian government officers and become the foundation in any governmental decision making process. However, the application of these Pancasila values is still below the expectation due to the facts that the public services of the South Sulawesi Province are viewed as unjust and poverty exists in the community. This study has identified and analysed the application of Pancasila values in the bureaucracy and decision making process. In addition, a model was designed to asses how Pancasila values have influenced the decision making process and if the influence is significant. In the study, data from a quantitative research design was descriptively and explanatively analysed using Structural Equation modeling (SEM). The research respondents are officers of South Sulawesi Province who were selected based on stratified random sampling. Data were collected using rating scale questionnaire. The results support previous studies by restating that Pancasila values influence decision making styles, and the patterns of relation among the values and decision making styles vary. The implication of this study is that an increase in the practice of Pancasila values in decision making would lead to an increase in the quality of bureaucrats’ decision making results. The recomendations of the study are that provincial officers should internalize Pancasila values and enrich their leadership profesionalism through use of these values for every decision making. Ultimately, use of these Pancasila values would enhance decision making activities and this would lead to good governance. |
