Summary: | This study aims to identify the relationship between intercultural communication competence and job performance among employees of Graduate School in research universities in Malaysia. The respondents consisted of 108 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of three parts, part A (demographics), part B (intercultural communication competence), and part C (job performance). The instrument used to measure the intercultural communication competence is a questionnaire developed by Hashim Fauzy (2008). While for the job performance’s questionnaire it is adapted based on questionnaires used on Interaction System Performance Model Waldman (1994). Data collected analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and percentage) and inferential statistics (regression). The results showed that the level of intercultural communication competence is at the average level, while the level of performance at a high level. In addition, Regression analysis showed a significant relationship between intercultural communication competence and job performance. From the three dimensions of intercultural communication competence, motivation is the most dominant dimensions contribute to job performance. In this study, several suggestions have been made for future researchers to extend the scope of the study and using different models and theories.
