Summary:To ensure that the organization is moving forward and achieving the set objectives, the organization must have the necessary roles and competency guidelines by workers so it is often referred to as a guide for selecting employees or to maintain the ability to perform tasks. There was an opinion that organization that does not have clearly states the roles and competency required reference for employees, employees to the organization vulnerable to failure. Therefore, it is important to carry out this study in order to identify the role of facility managers in the management of FM services in public hospitals and also to identify competencies needed of facility managers in public hospitals. 44 respondents from the public hospital’s facilities management contractor appointed including a monitors (pemantau) from the Ministry of Health Malaysia were involved in this study. Data gained from questionnaire survey method and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)-19 were used for analysis phase. Frequency and mean score were used in this study to analyse the data. The result of the analysis shows that the roles and competency needed of facilities managers in public hospitals.
