Description
Summary:Quality management system is not something new in Malaysia. Almost every company in Malaysia has a quality management system or better known as ISO. This system is based on the principles of quality assurance framework to create effective management practices identified through the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM). TQM is a process of quality management which is client - oriented, runs continuously and involves all aspects of the organization. The purpose of this process is to bring sweeping changes to build a culture of organizational excellence. In this study, the construction sector has been chosen and the study focused on the interim claim processes submitted by the contractor to the clients. In addition, this study also aims to identify the best practices in the interim claims submitted by the contractor to the client. For this purpose, respondents are among those who are working as a quantity surveyor and involved in the interim claims submitted by the contractor to the client. Based on the survey conducted, it shows that majority of respondents felt that besides the guidelines set out in the PWD 203A , PAM 2006 and CIDB 2000, there were some items that should be added to allow the interim claims runs smoothly and in a short time. It is very important to ensure that the contractor cash flow is always at it optimal rate in order for the project to run smoothly and to ensure the project can be completed in the specified time.
