Summary:This study is carried out to observe the practice of management of school based assessment in SK. Gugusan Adela, Kota Tinggi, Johor. The purposes of this study are to find out the opinions, knowledge, practice and the teachers’ problems in conducting the school based assessment. It is also purposely to compare the levels of knowledge and practice in school as well as the problems accured which are based on gender. In addition, this study was also conducted to identify the relationship between the knowledge and teachers’ practice in conducting the school based assessment. Moreover, the findings from this study can be used by Malaysian Examination Board and other parties that are directly involved in planning and directing the path of National Assessment Base. This study involved 58 respondents consists of teachers who are teaching year 1, 2 and 3. The data is collected via questionnaire and is analyzed using the SPSS 16.0 for Windows. Descriptive statistics, T-test and Pearson Correlation are used to analyze the data. The items with 0.917 Cronbach Alpha value are used to collect the responses from the respondents. The findings show that the knowledge and practice among the teachers are high. It also show the matters regarding school based assessment is at the medium level. The findings indicated that there is no significant difference between the gender in their knowledge and practice but there are some differences regarding the problems in conducting the school based assessment. It also shows that there is a significant relationship between the knowledge and the practice of the assessment. This study also has identified a few problems faced by the teachers in conducting the school-based assessment that need to be solved by the authorities in order to fulfill the requirement by the Malaysian Examination Board.
