Description
Summary:One of the main factor causing the slope instability is due to the overflow of rainfall which is normally occurred to the residual soils especially in Malaysia that experience the tropical rainfall events. This condition then result to the slope instability because of increasing of ground water level. With almost at the slope surface in Malaysia are steep, the slope area are more expose to the erosion and then result to the slope failure. These slope failures can be dangerous, disruptive to the development of infrastructures and quite costly to repair. The analysis is undertake using limit equilibrium method with computer simulation model using SLOPE/ W version 5.0 (GEO-SLOPE International Ltd.) based on seepage pattern which is obtained from transient analysis with pore water pressure distribution. The seepage pattern is the available analysis data taken from SEEP/W Version 5.0 (GEO-SLOPE International Ltd.) computer model. The expected result is the Factor of Safety value within two months data analysis. Then the lowest FOS can be determined base on the FOS obtained. This study will adopt a fundamental approaches towards understanding the characteristic of slope stability due to the rainfall.
