Description
Summary:To overcome the acute problem of students’ accommodation, more hostels were needed. With the overall student population of 23,595 in 1997, UTM could not possibly provide accommodation for all. Thus, on October 17, 1997, UTM signed an agreement with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for the amount of RM160 million to construct hostels that could accommodate 4,000 students. In the same year too, UTM built another residential college that could house 628 students on a ‘fast track’ basis.
