Computer science The quality of Location-Based Services (LBS) is really depend on Position Determination Technologies (PDT)that is used to capture mobile terminal position and Location-Based Database Management System (LDBMS) that function as the main data source for LBS. There are some problems concerning with PDT and LDBMS that inhibit improvement of LBS. Among the problems are the low and variousness of mobile position determination accuracy, the diversity and dissimilarity geometry form of geospatial data of mobile terminal position, and the synchronization between geospatial data and non-spatial data. This paper proposes the idea of Multilayer Map (MLM), concept for location-based data management system that is designed to overcome some problem of LDBMS. Apart that, by a unique re-engineering in location data management, MLM can also be an alternative solution for specific problem of PDT. 2006 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed Abd.
