The signal components travelling on various paths through relays can be combined using the maximal ratio combining (MRC) technique. Due to the presence of additional choices for the signal to reach its destination, the probability of a system outage diminishes as the number of relays increases, however the system becomes complex and expensive. The CR system's resource efficiency can be improved through the selection of an appropriate relaying UAV among those that are available. The FANET system parameters, UAV characteristics, target environmental factors, and application requirements show a significant impact in selecting suitable relay. The channel assignment algorithms are expected to take these considerations into account. This study looks at channel assignment strategies classifying them and evaluating their suitability for UAVs assisted FANETs.
