Summary: | Integrated optical-wireless access network is a cost effective solution for providing high capacity connectivity and ease of mobility, which are both desirable characteristics in future broadband access network. The power consumption is predicted to rise due to the increase in data rates requirements along with the growth in network connectivity. In order to "greening"the integrated access network and improving its energy efficiency, this paper proposes an implementation of sleep mode based on user behavior. While conventional power saving models often overestimate the power consumption, we implement a precise proposal to achieve a significant improvement in energy saving of approximately 15%, by considering user behavior dimensioning. |
