Summary:Quranic field is the core of Islamic Education Curriculum in primary schools which includes the recitation verse, the memorization verse, the comprehension verse and the rules of tajweed. Nevertheless some of the Quranic teachers still practice an ineffective way of teaching Quran and causes students to not master the Qur'an reading well. In this regard, this research focuses on the exploration of the meaning the 'hikmah' and 'bi al-hikmah' words included in the Holy Qur'an and Hadith. The study also aims to analyze the characteristics of 'bi al-hikmah' in the Qur'an teaching at the primary schools and to develop a teaching model based on 'bi al-hikmah'. The qualitative research method was used for the content analysis and the case study method. Data collections were obtained by interviewing five respondents selected among Islamic Education teacher (GPI). All the data were thematicall analyzed using Nvivo 8.0. software to obtain data saturation patterns and to answer the five main research questions of this study. The results showed that the word 'hikmah' has various definitions and that be divided into three parts namely personality, knowledge, and skills. These findings were used to develop a bi al-Hikmah Teacher’s Model in the Quranic teaching. The were also positive perceptions from the respondents towards the appreciation of the bi al-Hikmah characteristics in terms of the personality, knowledge, and skills in the Quranic teaching. Through the bi al-Hikmah Teacher’s Model a positive and effective impacts towards Quranic teaching were seen among the GPI at the primary schools. The results and model of the study can also give a positive result for the (GPI) in the process of obtaining hikmah granted by Allah SWT. The researcher has put forward some positive suggestions to use the bi al-Hikmah Teacher's Model in enhancing the Quranic teaching and Islamic education in Malaysia.
