Summary:The construction industry is a high-risk industry and it is commonly acknowledged as one of the most hazardous occupations in the world. The statistics of accidents in Malaysia shows that Malaysian construction industry is one of the risky sectors that need a drastic overhaul from the current site safety practices. Therefore, a study has been conducted to identify the causes of accidents in construction industry. This study describes an overview of the accident causes occurred in construction industry by various researchers from the local and other countries through reviewing the literature review from journals, books and web pages. This study also highlights the steps which need to be taken to reduce the number of accidents throughout the incentive, awareness and effective training program.
