Summary:What is Mammon? According to Oxford Dictionary, the word mammon refers to "wealth regarded as an evil influence or false object of worship and devotion." In the Preface, the author describes it as '...Mammon - the evils associated with immoral forms of economic gain" (ix). The title is what drawn me to the book. I have been following the author's writing for almost ten years now. To me, Professor Timur Kuran (Kuran henceforth) has different yet interesting perspective, which is more often than not off the trajectory of other Islamic economic scholars' writings.
