Summary:Islam is vouchsafe to man in order to attain peace from within himself so as to fulfill the purpose of his existence. Its primary objective is to ensure that peace reign supreme between him and his Lord, between him and his fellow men and also the environment in which he lives. Therefore, this paper attempts to unravel the primacy of peace to Islam even though the meaning of the religion is peace as one of the attributes of Allah-As-salaam-is equally Peace. The paper also examines circumstance and or conditions under which war allowed in the religion.Finally the paper provides suggestion of ways and means by which peace could be guaranteed, maintained and sustained between and among people of different religious and ideological background in a world that is predominated by multi-culturalism.
