Summary: | Syntax is a main subject in Arabic language and it is considered as the root of the
language like morphology. A person who has good knowledge in syntax can speak well
in this language and know how to apply it effectively. Moreover, syntax and its rules
should be mastered very well particularly when structuring an Arabic sentence. The
reason is that the correct meaning of a sentence depends on how a person deals with the
right rules of syntax. Furthermore, Arabic scholars have also discussed the importance of
practicing effective approach in both teaching and learning syntax in order to achieve the
targeted objective. In Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) syllabus, syntax has become
one of the vital subjects to be focused on by teachers and students. Students who are
well-versed in this subject have good command of Arabic language. This research is
aimed to find out the teaching and learning approaches used by teachers and students
towards syntax subject in secondary schools. The research has also collected suggestions
from both sides in order to assist and improve the ways of teaching and learning this
subject. Moreover, various learning strategies from the students and their achievements
have been collected. It is hoped that the research has assisted in improving teaching and
learning this subject among teachers and students for the betterment of Arabic language
generally and Syntax particularly. |
