This study will explain the role of ulama upon Muslims society in Malaysia. Ulama are responsible to the society in guiding them up to the God blessed destination in effort to developing Islamic civilization. In this aspect the ulama are not merely responsible in debating on halal(permitted) and haram (forbidden) matters, but more importantly to bear responsibility in spreading Islamic knowledge to the entire Muslims ummah in Malaysia. As it is now, the muslims society are needs and thirst both in spiritual and physical development, therefore we should cooperate with Muslim intellectual members to struggle with full effort and energy to ensure the state developers accordingly in facing the more challenging world of today. Looking back the role of the old and present Islamic ulama, it is found that both are a like the old ulama had functioned successfully, and the present of ulama are functioning accordingly towards achieving common objective (as agents) of development for the Muslims society. The only thing that are differ in a matter of approach style and the methodology that suited with their respective time, situation and environment of each society. The result this study showed the importance of knowledge people or called ulama because of their efforts in guiding the Muslims becoming a highly moral ummah and achieving a high level of intellectuality that can be proud of, also their excel services toward a rapid development of the state. These good jobs are not only benefit for life of today but as well brings benefit for the hereafter.
