Summary: | PON evolution start from APON, BPON and now it is time for GPON and EPON to
dominate the FTTH network, however for future deployment EPON already have clear
path to upgrade from 1Gbps for upstream and downstream to 10Gbps both upstream and
downstream. For GPON network, these technologies still enjoy 2.5Gbps downstream and
still not have clear path to catchup with EPON technology. By using WDM technology
GPON try to deploy multiple wavelength to carry more bandwidth to compatible with
10GEPON network in the future. In CWDM PON system project proposed by TMR&D, the
combination of EPON that can provide simple network through Ethernet packet can
manipulate WDM technology by using CWDM PON system in the network. TMR&D is one
of the pioneer that provide CWDM PON system already proof the prototype concept that
EPON can be combine with multiple CWDM wavelength to provide more bandwidth with
simple Ethernet packet transmission. TMR8D proof the system can provide 4 wavelengths
by using CWDM wavelength in a single board. Using AWG, all 4 wavelength multiplex and
carried by Fiber link up to maximum 20km to the nearest premises. Using second AWG
de-multiplex the wavelength each of wavelengths will be split into maximum 32 users.
Every 32 user will shred the same wavelength. This concept combining two technology
which is TDM that used by EPON and GPON and also WDM technology to maximized the
number of wavelength carried into a single fiber. |
