Summary: | Porous tri-calcium phosphate (TCP) which is well-known for its purpose for artificial
bone was prepared via sponge polymeric method by application of low cost
polyurethane (PU) foam as a structural guide. TCP is mixed with distilled water to
produce slurries and subsequently, PU foam with rectangular shape was immersed
in the slurry and dried for three days Samples were then sintered at 1100°C to
achieve porous structure. This method produces porous TCP with the mechanical
strength in the range of 0.66-1.02 MPa Besides. the macroporosity which is
observed through SEM were between 100 pm to 900 pm. |
