Summary:This qualitative study is conducted to explore the need in enhancing Malaysian counselors’ preparation and training to face issues related to cybersex. It also tries to investigate how Malaysian counselor assess and face challenges in their practice when dealing with cybersex issues. Research findings can be used as a guide to strengthen and support the knowledge and skills in the field of counseling especially in providing treatment for cybersexual cases. In this study, interview sessions have been conducted with identified counselors to gather information on suitable treatment approaches for cybersex that may be used in the Malaysian context. These approaches can become a framework of reference in developing a specific module that could be used as a guideline to increase counselors’ professionalism and skills when facing with client involved in cybersexual activities.
