Abstract Sheikh Muhammad Idris al-Marbawi is one of the most prominent and modern hadith scholar in Malaysia. He is referred to his great efforts in preserving and promoting the hadith studies in Malay language. Sheikh Idris al-Marbawi spent most of his life in serving Muslims in Malay archipelago religiously and intellectually. He has written many works in culture, language and Islamic studies. Keywords: al-Marbawi, Bahrul Mazi. الملخص الشيخ محمد إدريس المربوي -رحمه الله- من أحد كبار العلماء والمحدثين البارزين في ماليزيا، حيث يشار إليه بالبنان في جهوده الكبيرة والمتميزة في خدمة السنة النبوية بلغة الملايو. وقد أفنى الشيخ إدريس المربوي أكثر حياته في النهوض بسكان أرخبيل الملايو دينيا وعلميا وفكريا، حيث ألّف العديد من المؤلفات في الثقافة واللغة والعلوم الإسلاميّة، ومن أشهر مؤلفاته "بحر الماذي شرح مختصر صحيح الترمذي"، يعد هذا الكتاب من أكبر وأهم الشروح على كتب الحديث باللغة الملايوية. الكلمات المفتاحية: الشيخ محمد إدريس، المربوي، المحدث الماليزي، بحر الماذي.
