| Summary: | This article deals with the concept of "determination" and its semantics in the Quran. It attempts to trace Quranic usage of the term and analyze its context and meaning. In the first part of the paper, discussion os focused on the definition of the term linguistically and as understood by Muslim scholars. This is followed by discussion on its concept and its meaning as contained in the Quran, both in Meccan and Medinan verses. At the same time, other words bearing similar meanings in the Quran are also analyzed. This ensues a more comprehensive understanding of the concept of "determination" as used in the Quran. |
