Summary: | The Quran mentions the story of Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him, in a whole chapter in a series of episodes. At the same time this story is also narrated in the Torah. As such, many Orientalists claimed that the Quranic version of the story originates from the Torah and the Bible despite the apparent differences and or similarities between these versions on the story. In this paper, analytical and comparative approaches are adopted to deal with some of the episodes from the story of Yusuf, peace be upon him, based on the Quran and its commentaries, and the Torah. Its aims to highlight this important issue of the story’s origin, among other related matters. |
