Kajian ini bertujuan mendedahkan kepentingan hafazan hadis diterapkan kepada seluruh penuntut pengajian Islam selain dari bidang hadis yang utama. Kajian ini berbentuk sorotan dan pengenalan mengenai subjek hafazan hadis tersebut dari sudut jumlah hadis yang dipelajari dan yang perlu dihafal serta kuliah-kuliah yang terlibat dalam hafalan hadis ini disamping pemarkahan hafalan hadis yang dinilai dalam ujian tutorial dan peperiksaan akhir semester. Selain itu, kajian ini juga melihat beberapa perbandingan secara umum berkaitan penekanan dan pengamalan sistem hafazan hadis ini khusunya di Universiti Awam (UA) Malaysia. Kajian ini menggunakan metode lapangan dalam memperolehi data melalui kaedah temubual serta kajian perpustakaan melalui bahan-bahan terbitan yang berkaitan. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa hafazan hadis amat ditekankan kepada pelajar-pelajar Kuliah Dirasat Islamiyyah di Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Madinah sehingga dijadikan subjek wajib kepada pelajar selain daripada kuliah hadis. Kajian ini juga mendapati tradisi hafazan hadis ini amat perlu ditekankan kepada penuntut pengajian Islam secara umum sebagai persediaan menguasai dalil-dalil syarak dan tidak hanya terhenti kepada pelajar-pelajar di dalam bidang hadis atau al-Quran semata-mata. ABSTRACT The current article surveyed the tradition of memorizing hadith via subjects which are taught to the students apart from the course of hadith in the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The objective of the study is to expose the importance of hadith memorization among students in Islamic Studies who are not majoring in hadith. The form of the study is an overview and introduction on the hadith memorization subject in terms of the quantity of the learned hadith, and the memorized hadith, as well as the courses involved in the hadith memorization, alongside the scoring of hadith memorization which are assessed in the tutorial tests and final semester examinations. Besides, this study also viewed a few general comparisons on the focus and application of the hadith memorization system specifically in Malaysian universities. The study used field study method in obtaining the data, specifically data was collected via interviews and library researchof related literatures. The results of the study found that memorizing hadith is emphasized among the students in the course of Islamic Studies in the Islamic University of Madinah to the extent that it is made a compulsory subject for the students who are not majoring in hadith course.
