Muslim women have shown great achievements in their careers and professional life. Nevertheless, there is a lack of knowledge about leadership practices of Muslim women as academic leaders in higher education, which makes it even more difficult for organizations to address the advancement and progress of women in the academic workplace. Therefore, this paper provides an overview of research examining the status of practices of Muslim women academic leaders. The objective of this review is to reflect current knowledge on leadership topic by focusing on the most recent evidence in the area. The sources of evidence were used peer-reviewed empirical studies and reviews published in academic journals. In addition, specialist texts on leadership were examined in order to give an overview of main leadership theories.
