Summary:Fourteen species of Clionantltus are described from Sarawak. One species, C. ramiflorus Roxb., is widespread from Indo-China to Australia. Three species, C. elacocarpus (Stapf) Kiew, C. evenius (Stapf) Kiew and C. laxiflorus Bl. are also known from Malaya. The remaining ten species are at present only known from Borneo. Chionanthus cuspidatus was described by Blume. Linociera Sw. is synonymous with Chionanthus and new combinations are made for L. longipetala Merr., L. oligantha Merr., L. pachyphylla Merr. and L. pluriflora Knobl. Five new species, C. havilandii, C. pulustris, C. polycephalus, C. porcatus and C. rugosus and a new variety of C. elaeocarpus, var globosus, are described. Linociera verruculosa Merr. is reduced to synonymy w.th C. pluriflorus (Knobl.) Kiew and L. macrobotyrs Mcrr. is excluded from the genus.
