Summary: | Interests in establishing appliance standards are spreading from North America and Europe to many other countries around the world. The methodology of electric motor efficiency standards is still being developed, and therefore, no single methodology is available for establishing standards for electric motor. This paper discusses the methodology involved in developing energy efficiency standards for electric motor. The initial step of setting a standard is proposing a test procedure, then the energy efficiency standards can be implemented based upon energy test procedure, then followed by proposing suitable energy labels and incentive programs for the appliances. The equations to calculate energy savings and the economic and environmental impact of the standards are also discussed. The methodology presented in this study is suitable for a developing country that lack of available data. Using this approach may shorten the time required for developing standards. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2008. |
