Economic growth, urbanization, CO2 emission level and foreign direct investment were selected as independent variables, with renewable energy as dependent variable. Examining the relationships between renewable energy adoption and other independent variables is the goal of this project, which makes use of quantitative data from 1992 to 2023. Another objective is to investigate the structure of this interaction in boththe short and long run. This study applied the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to identify significant short and long run correlations between renewable energy and the variables presented. The statistical package EViews and Microsoft Excel were utilized for the analysis. The results highlight how important it is to understand the complex interactions that occur between macroeconomic determinants and renewable energy. This present project also suggests several policy recommendations to encourage the use of renewable energy sources and reduce environmental pollution in Malaysia.
