This causes rotational or swirl energy losses and also a pressure drop. In turn, this will cause the total efficiency of the fan system to be reduced. This project focuses on creating guide vanes after the fan blades to guide the helical airflow produced by the blades back into the axial direction. The design for the axial fan with and without the guide vanes are evaluated by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to observe the flow of the through the fan. The fan baseline configuration without the guide vanes, with guide vanes that had a 30 degree pitch angle and with guide vanes that had a 40 degree pitch angle were studied. First, the designs were drawn using gambit and the mesh was created. The Grid Independent Test was done for the design with and without guide vanes. Following that, the designs were imported into Fluent and they boundary conditions were set. The simulation is run and the results for the pressure and velocity throughout the fan is observed. The vector velocity diagram is also obtained to examine the air flow direction before and after the fan blades. The velocity past the blades is compared in the discussion section of the report. From the results that were obtained, it can be said that the flow of the air past the blades is improved with the addition of guide vanes. 2024-12-13T08:49:48Z 2024-12-13T08:49:48Z 2013 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/35368 en application/pdf |
