The purpose is to produce combined effect among the polymer blend with enhanced properties. Although the polymer blend manifest enhanced properties compared to the single polymers the substance of the two polymers can cause less desirable properties that obtained from melting process. Hence, to enhance the miscibility among the composite of polymers compatibilizers are added. In this project, the effect of compatibilizer on impact strength of Polypropylene (PP) / Polylactic Acid (PLA) was studied and the compatibilizer used is Triethoxyvinyl Silane (TEVS). The blend was done to enhance the properties of pure polymer and to increase the adhesion. The mixing process was carried out using twin screw extruder and the test specimen samples were obtained through injection molding process. The mechanical properties viz. Izod impact test and hardness test were performed and it is found that pure PP has higher impact strength compared to other blend and pure PLA. Besides that, the increment of PLA into PP blend reduced the impact strength and hardness resistance. Therefore, compatibilizer TEVS is not suitable for the PP/PLA alloy composites based on the results obtained. 2024-12-13T08:04:05Z 2024-12-13T08:04:05Z 2017 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/35339 en application/pdf
