At this moment, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) monitoring system being used by TNB is impractical. The indicator of alarm only reacts when the density of gas in the compartment of GIS is either lower or higher than a certain pre-set values, in fact the indicator just indicates the gas density is in which state either normal, low or high. Furthermore, the value of gas density is not indicated on the control room unless a personnel measure the reading at the GIS room. The project has successfully developed the transmitter and the receiver for a gas monitoring system.
