It's a common phenomenon that occurred mostly worldwide. Flood causes death towards human and damage to the property. Due to the heavy rainfall that fall during Northeast and Southwest monsoon, Malaysia has been appointed with the heaviest rainfall in the world with approximately 2500 mm a year. In Malaysia, a few states have been hit by flood. However, Kelantan is well known as flood prone area and been impacted with the worst flood over 30 years. It cause many destructions in Kelantan. Therefore in order to reduce and mitigate the flood event, flood forecasting, flood plain and flood anticipation are needed. The aim of this study is to investigate the cause of a flood event in Kelantan River Basin. Mostly the cause of the flood in Kelantan is due to the rainfall that occurred during northeast monsoon. This can be proved by using radar image of cumulus clouds, rainfall pattern isohyet, rainfall status and comparison of rainfall monthly. Nonetheless, the behaviour of the Kelantan river basin need to be analysed and determined by using a non-structural measures which is a hydrologic modelling software named Integrated Flood Analysis System (IFAS). IFAS model is a runoff analysis model converting rainfall into runoff for a given river basin. Subsequent to this, hydrograph and water level are predicted so that the impact of flood can be minimise and early warning can be given to the citizen. Thus the results of the modelling are presented such that they can be used as a countermeasure to reduce the flood and to be used in other measures. 2024-11-29T03:05:56Z 2024-11-29T03:05:56Z 2016 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/35182 en application/pdf |
