The most common and possible way of this bioconversion of lignocelluloses to bioethanol is using pre-treatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, and fermentation. EFB would be one of the alterating prospects for renewable energy to ensure clean carbon emission and zero atmospheric pollutions. The main objective of this study was to determine the yield of ethanol produced from palm oil empty fruit bunch (OPEFB). Other than that, the studies also carried to investigated the parameters/ factors that influence the concentration of glucose extracted from EFB. Besides, the effects of different glucose concentration, and different concentration of Saccaromyces cerevisae to the yield of bioethanol were studied too. The bioethanol in this experimental work was synthesised from two stage production method. As for the first phase of the process, the EFB sample was hydrolysed with two stage pre-treatment. Initially the sample treated with dilute sodium hydroxide then being subjected to concentric sulfuric acid. The oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) is hydrolysed using different concentrations of acid. At the second phase, the pre-treated EFBS undergo enzymatic hydrolysis where the material treated with cellulast enzyme for surface degradation. In the 3 phase, the fermentation process carried out with Saccaromyces cerevisae which was done in anaerobic condition. Different concentration of yeast was used in this experiment. The result illustrated that, the pre- treatment of EFB with sodium hydroxide has produced higher yield of glucose compared with untreated EFBs. Also the hydrolysis with different acid concentration, helped to determine the optimum condition for maximum glucose yield which is 40.1 g/L, at 1.0M H2SO, at 100°C for 60 minutes. A sample fermentation process was carried out to examine the growth of yeast, and it's found out that the glucose concentration decrease as the yeast grow, and that's produce bioethanol as the digestion waste. The maximum concentration of 18.15 g/L and 71.67 % of theoretical yield was obtained at glucose concentration of 3.733 g/L. It is found that fermentation time decreases if the concentrations of yeast increase. Similarly, the concentration of bioethanol became higher as the concentration of glucose increases. 2024-11-04T02:06:54Z 2024-11-04T02:06:54Z 2014 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/34966 en application/pdf
