Patch antennas are becoming very widespread within the mobile phone market. It offers many advantages for example low price, lower profile and is very easily fabricated. Although, the requirements on antenna effectiveness on this kind of small equipment are becoming increasingly severe, the antenna performance really should not be drastically degraded. Because of that antenna designers are always looking for creative ways to improve the performances. In this project, a microstrip patch antenna with operating frequency at 5.8 GHz were designed and simulated. The microstrip patch antenna were feed by using an aperture coupler feed technique. The performances of the antenna were compared in terms of bandwidth, return loss, voltage standing wave ratio and radiation patterns. The main advantage of this project is it will reduce the required space needed on the phone and etc. However narrow bandwidth characteristic of this antenna is one of the limitations for its commercial application for wireless mobile. To avoid this thing happen some technique will be used to increase the bandwidth.
