In this study, one materials was selected as self-curing agent with different amounts was studied. The self-curing agent was polyethylene-glycol (Ch.) ; 1%, 2%, and 3% by weight of cement. With using the optimum amount of the self-curing agent, replacement of bottom ash has been done; 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% by weight of sand. To carry out this study the water/cement ratio of 0.45 was used in mortar mixes. The compressive strength was evaluated while the mortar specimens were subjected to air curing regime (in the laboratory environment) during the experiment. The results show that, the use of self-curing agent in mortar effectively improved the compressive strength. The mortar which has polyethylene-glycol as self- curing agent, attained higher values of compressive strength than mortar with no self- curing agent. The results also show that, the use of bottom ash as a replacement of sand in mortar has dropped the compressive strength. In all cases, either 1% Ch. or 20% BA replacement was the optimum ratio compared with the other ratios. Higher or lower water/cement ratio leads to more efficient performance of self-curing agents in mortar. Incorporation of self-curing agent into self-curing mortar mixture enhanced the compressive strength, not only due to its pozzolanic reaction, but also due to its ability to retain water inside mortar. 2024-10-23T03:11:14Z 2024-10-23T03:11:14Z 2015 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/34842 en application/pdf
