Therefore, the development of green biocomposites is considered as one of the initiatives toward achieving the objective by substituting synthetic materials with natural resources. The development of this high-performance material is expanding globally owing to its good mechanical properties, low cost, lightweight, easy process ability, improved surface finish, biodegradability as well as abundant and renewable resources. Since natural fibers are a versatile resource with various advantages, it has an excellent potential to be used for automotive industry to fulfill environmental and performance demands at competitive costs. The key factor of a biocomposite in automotive application is its lightweight material that offers comparable performance with the conventional materials. Additionally, it also exhibits non-brittle fracture upon impact test which is one of the main requirements for automotive components. This chapter discusses the fundamentals of natural fiber composites, its processing techniques, the potential applications in automotive sector including the demands and future perspectives. The outcome from this chapter would benefit the researchers of this particular area as well as the industrial players toward reducing waste disposal, reduction of greenhouse gas emission and life cycle consideration. 2024 selection and editorial matter, Abu Zahrim Yaser, Mohd Sani Sarjadi, and Junidah Lamaming individual chapters, the contributors.
