The main reason that plastic is widely used is because plastic is so much cheaper than other material. It is irrelevant to sell a product at a price where the container it self is more expensive then the product and a PET plastic waste is a good example for it because of the mass production of it to cater our everyday need such as water bottle, television cover, plastic bag, and many more, a study was carried out to produce and characterize the plastic (PET) waste PW derived fuel pellets. This paper has as well investigated the effect of heat on the properties of the PW derived fuel pellets and focused on the identification of heat applied and manual pressed fuel pellet properties. Manual pressed pellets were prepared and several analyses including moisture content analysis, density analysis, calorific value test, proximate analysis and pellet durability were investigated to calrify and indentify the characteristic of the produced pellet. The pellets with the addition heat applied were later prepared using a pelleting mill and the characterizations were done with the same analyses to identify the effect of the heat variable towards the pellets properties. With the final result, we can conclude that both PW pellet have a great potential to become the best fuel pellet. This is because of both of the pellet result only differ by a bit and the both have a relatively high calorific value. The manual pressed pellet have the calorific value of 45.47 MJ/kg and durability index of 99.91%. The effect of heat application on the fuel pellets properties has significantly reduced the moisture content and improved the mechanical durability of the pellets. The PW pellets with the heat applied to it have a better mechanical durability index with 100% and moisture content reduces 0.36% but increases the ash content by 7.32% and have a reduced calorific value of 44.3MJ/kg. 2024-10-03T07:45:56Z 2024-10-03T07:45:56Z 2017 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/33653 en application/pdf |
