It is a process of attempting to understand the workings of a Stirling engine, how it works, its advantages, the complexities, the feasibility of building one, the designing, building and testing of an actual prototype. Stirling engine is a heat engine that have existed for hundreds of years that works simply with an external heat source. So far, no serious attempt has been made to use a Stirling engine to harness potential waste heat energy from air-conditioning system. This project seeks to study the possibility of building such a Stirling engine, through studies on the theoretical and analytical aspect of the Stirling engine and the actual experimental method of building an actual Stirling engine. Since an actual air-conditioning system is not available for test, a candle is used to attempt to simulate the low temperature application. A prototype Low Temperature Difference Stirling Engine was built in attempt harness this source of energy. However, experimental attempts have been disappointing, due to many factors that can be attributed to lack of understanding. This however, also provided many opportunities to learn from mistake, which is valuable for future work that can be taken. The prospect of harnessing waste heat from air-conditioning continues to be an exciting opportunity. 2024-08-26T04:14:59Z 2024-08-26T04:14:59Z 2017 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/33321 en application/pdf |
