my.uniten.dspace-332852024-08-25T02:00:32Z Comparison of CFD simulation using varying coil designs to improve heat dissipation Low, Yin Chye Energy dissipation Heat TJ163.3.L68 2015 The purpose of this research is to simulate an efficient and simple method to dissipate heat from a surface heating coil into water by utilizing secondary flow patterns which are caused by the high(er) temperature of the liquid body. The research only dealt with comparison of image results between simulated environments of simple coil designs to exhibit the efficiency of respective designs. Simulations were run using ANSYS-FLUENT whereas the building blocks were designed with SOLIDWORKS 2013 and the mesh volume was created using GAMBIT 2.2.30. Calculations were minimal and were determined by default using the calculations encoded into ANSYS-FLUENT. Three designs were made with consideration to manufacturability of the heating coils in the industry and a constant radial coil was used as the datum of comparison. Simulations were run to convergence or if the case did not permit convergence, it was run to stability. A preliminary test simulation using a rectangular heating block was run to ascertain the feasibility of the research.
