This thesis provides all the necessary information that the reader need to know about his project from collecting information on literature review stage until the discussion stage. This thesis also can be used as a reference in the future for the reader as it contains sufficient explanation about the behavior of permanent magnet on difference thickness of ferromagnetic material. This experiment focusing on the use of Neodymium-Iron-Boron alloys as a permanent magnet and carbon steel plates. The carbon steel plates are in five different thickness but same in size. So, the variable in this experiment will be only on different of thickness of carbon steel plate. All the other setting that involves during experimentation will be constantly used. Instron Universal testing machine model 8516 is used as it can perform tensile test experiment and it can provide all the necessary information about the result of the experiment. Principle of magnetism used widely for many machines or devices. The traction force which exists between permanent magnet and ferromagnetic material can be used as a powerful force to do some work. Many machines have been invented such as Industrial electromagnet lifting scrap iron. The different types of both materials will give the variety of strength that could be implement real life. The strength of traction force which exist depending on the coefficient of friction of two surfaces and also the area of contact between permanent magnet and ferromagnetic material. The coefficient of friction only can be calculated when the value of normal force and traction force measured. In this project, the different value on traction force will be measured and analyzed. 2024-08-22T03:59:52Z 2024-08-22T03:59:52Z 2010 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/33283 en application/pdf |
