In other words, the furthest distance travelled with limited amount of fuel. This event is held around the world across three continents; America, Europe and Asia. The objective of this project is to design the body, chassis and suspension geometry of the car for competing in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia. The body are made up from fibreglass, due to its lightweight nature and easy to form into any shape. The type of chassis used are space frame and material used are ASTM A500 square tubing with outer diameter of 31.8 mm and thickness of 2.0 mm. Total weight of the chassis are about 61.38 kg. The chassis then have been analysed to observe the stress and deformation. The maximum stress observed are 33.8 MN/m2, which are much lower than maximum yield strength of the material at 248 MN/m2. While the maximum deformation observed are 1.531 mm, which are very low and insignificant. The chassis are safe to use for the competition. Suspension system used for the car are pull-rod suspension system, which consists of two suspension arm, suspension tie rod, rocker arm, shock absorber and wheel hub/steering knuckle.
