The experimental work was carried out to analyse the breakdown occurs on the cable due to a fault. Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) was used to analyse the weakness point on the cable. The analysis is focusing on single core Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) High Voltage cable only. Pulses signal will be injected by TDR and it will propagate along the cable and the signal will be reflected back to the source when it reaches the miss-match impedance on the cable. The TDR experiment was conducted in High Voltage Laboratory in Tenaga Nasional Berhad Research (TNBR), Bangi. PSCAD software was used as the simulation element to replicate the TDR measurement. Pulse generator was built by using the mathematical expression on the PSCAD, it able to inject the pulses signal through the cable. The propagated signal will be reflected back to the source when miss-match impedance reached by the signal on the circuit module on the PSCAD. The result of signal reflections can be observed by using overlay graph on PSCAD. The analysis consists of the simulation on the various length of single cable, two cables and two cables with a resistor, inductor and capacitor placed in between of the cables to see the impact of the circuit module designed. 2024-07-25T03:15:03Z 2024-07-25T03:15:03Z 2017 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/32919 en application/pdf |
