my.uniten.dspace-325012024-06-09T02:01:01Z Formation of FeCrAl alloy by compacting at elevated temperature and sintering at different schedule Muhammad Amir Afzam Awang Alloys Sintering TA483.M83 2017 This thesis reports the experimental investigation on the characteristics of a FeCrAl alloy formed through warm compaction method. Iron powder ASC100.29, chromium powder, and aluminium powder were used in the project. The powders were mixed mechanically for 30 minutes with 67 wt%, 22 wt%, and 11 wt% respectively for the feedstock preparation. The powder mixture then compacted at 150°C by uniaxial loading of 130 KN to produce 9 samples of green products. The green products were then sintered at a constant rate of 5°C/min in a custom made argon gas fired furnace by varying temperature (800°C, 900°C, and 1000°C) and different holding time (30 min, 60 min, and 90 min), respectively. The sintered products were undergoing bending strength test. The products were analyzed and characterized by their density, electrical resistivity, bending strength, and microstructure. The results show that the bending strength of FeCrAl sintered at a higher temperature and longer holding time is higher compared to the low sintering temperature.
