Ezzadin Electromagnetic fields GPS receivers Global positioning system TJ223.M3 M83 2015 This thesis reports the design and construction of a global positioning system (GPS) based extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic field measuring system. This prototype was developed based on research analysis and methodologies on development of the software and open-source Arduino microcontroller prototyping platform. The main goal of this project was to construct and design an ELF magnetic field measuring system which will be tagged with GPS data. This prototype will be used to measure the ELF magnetic field from overhead transmission lines. The main core of this system is an Arduino microcontroller platform. This microcontroller is connected with 3-axis magnetic field sensor, Arduino GPS Shield and Skylab GPS module. Output from the sensor will be used as an input for the microcontroller and the GPS will simultaneously receive the signal and save it into secure digital (SD) card. The system behaviour shown in flowchart design and Arduino coding based on the flowchart. Coding was simulated using open-source Arduino software integrated development environment (IDE).
