Jute fibre which is relatively abundantly available and low cost has the potential as composite plate in structural applications. Jute fibre composite plate is being used as reinforcement of newly constructed concrete beams as surface reinforcement for strengthening purposes of existing concrete. This research focuses on the formulation jute fibre composite plate which is using for strengthening of reinforced concrete beams. Besides, the research also focuses on the investigation of jute fibre and jute fibre composite plate. The research objectives include development of jute fibre composite plate and investigation of physical, mechanical, microscopic properties. The jute fibre composite plates were prepared by using Hand Lay-up System of different weight percentages ratio such as 6%, 11%, 16.7%, 19%, and 26% as well as a neat of epoxy resin plate. The specimens were tested according to ASTM D3039/D3039M for mechanical properties as tensile strength. Samples of jute fibre and jute fibre composite plate were tested to determine the physical properties such as density (ASTM D3800), moisture content (ASTM D5229/ D5229M) and moisture absorption (ASTM D5229/ D5229M) as well as in this research are carried out to investigate the microscopic properties by using scanning electron microscope (SEM) of 25% jute fibre composite plate specimen. The experimental result is found that the maximum tensile strength is 83.549 Mpa when the percentage of weight jute fibre is 16.7%. The maximum density is 1.2295 g/cm3 which is a neat of epoxy resin without jute fibre. The result indicates the density of 0% jute fibre weight percentage is higher than density of 26% jute fibre. The maximum moisture content and moisture absorption are 5.95% and 4.76% respectively. The average density of jute fibre is 1.1724 g/cm3 with constant jute fibre weight. The average moisture content and moisture absorption of jute fibre are 13.96% and 120.67% respectively. From the experiment, it is found that the addition of jute fibre into fibre composite plate has increased the tensile strength, moisture content and moisture absorption.
