The emission of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and its hazardous effects is can controlled with carbon capture and storage method. Thus, MOF-199 was chosen as suitable adsorbent as it is highly porous and has large surface area. The copper base Metal Organic Framework (MOF-199) prepared by using copper salt with fatty alcohol washed with distilled water with or without were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The adsorption behavior of nitrogen on MOF-199 were used to estimate the specific surface area and pore size distribution. The results from XRD patterns exhibited good agreement with the MOF-199 peaks reported before. The 20-6.76°, 9.46°, 11.64°, 13.5° attributed to the (200), (220), (222) and (400) reflection planes of octahedral structure. The octahedral structure were confirmed by SEM images where the sample washed with distilled water and ethanol were 7% bigger than the sample washed with distilled water The average crystal size of sample washed with distilled water was 26.9 μm, while the sample washed with distilled water and ethanol were 28.8 μm. The specific surface area estimated by nitrogen adsorption were at ca. 584 m2/g and 346 m2/g using Langmuir method for sample washed with distilled water and sample washed with distilled water and ethanol respectively. On the other hand, Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) surface area were estimated at ca. 500 mg and 315 m2/g for sample washed with distilled water and sample washed with distilled water and ethanol respectively. The pore size were at ca. 0.28 nm for micropore and 1.96 nm for mesopore for sample washed with distilled water, while for sample washed with distilled water and ethanol, the pore size were at ca. 0.27 nm for micropore and 1.96nm for mesopore. 2024-03-01T02:36:41Z 2024-03-01T02:36:41Z 2016 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/31410 en_US application/pdf
