Three waste soil samples were taken from different parts of the same closed construction dumping area to analyze their geotechnical properties. Several soil tests are conducted which are sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, specific gravity test and compaction test to determine the properties of the waste soil. The compaction test results shows that the optimum moisture content of the soil is around 12% and its maximum dry density is between 1833 kg/m3 and 1881 kg/m3. The liquid limit ranges between 23.5% to 26.0% and the plastic limit is between 14.43% and 17.29%. The plasticity index was then found out to be in the range of 6.21 to 9.61.The specific gravity of the sample is also determined. From the specific gravity test, the value of specific gravity of the soil sample is between 2.41 to 2.48. The geotechnical properties of waste soil from this research can be used as a guideline for the new development at the closed dumping area. � 2015 ejge.
