my.uniten.dspace-217192023-05-04T13:21:17Z Design and development of a condensate harvesting system from household air conditioner Rubanraj A/l Rajendren condensate harvesting system Interim sem 2020 / 2021 The demand for fundamental human need such as water in Malaysia is increasing enormously and the water sources available are scarcely adequate to satisfy the demands for the existing status of economy and life therefore, air conditioning condensation can be pursued as an alternate supply of water. The aim of this project is intended to design and develop a condensate harvesting system from household air conditioners. In addition, this project also aims to determine the rate of condensate flow from household air conditioner. The condensate waster was collected for qualitative and quantitative assessments. In general, condensate water has been shown to be of high quality and complies, except for biological oxygen requirements (BOD) measurements, with Malaysian irrigation water standards. No special hazards for drinking water and irrigation water requirements have been established indicating the presence of heavy metals in the collected condensate water. From a single unit capacity, highest flow rate was observed of approximately 1.55 L/hr in day time and 1.30 L/hr at night working at 16oC operational temperature, respectively. These numbers must capture the interest of decision-makers and policymakers to the prevent water wastage through harvesting of condensate water with strict technical standards for potential reuse at local level. Furthermore, a system has been developed for the purpose of facilitating the harvesting of the condensate water. The system comprises of a self-operating ram pump that works without any external energy and also relatively low in cost. 2023-05-03T17:46:43Z 2023-05-03T17:46:43Z 2020-09 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/21719 application/pdf |
