Summary:People who uses outdoor cloth hanger to dry their clothing are challenged by unpredictable weather changes for instance sudden rainy weather conditions. Furthermore, working people does not have sufficient time to dry their clothes using the outdoor cloth hanger in their fully occupied schedule. Instead of that, they spend money and send their garments to self-laundry and self-dryer which only takes up average of 1 hour. That being the case, an idea of automated roof activation system for outdoor cloth hanger was developed. This project prevents the clothes dried on the outdoor cloth hanger from getting wet in the rain. The roof activation system is automated, thus it runs the activation system of the roof on its own. LDR sensor module is used in the design of this project to detect the changes in the light intensity of the surrounding (sunny to cloudy). Microcontroller of Arduino UNO system and L293D Motor Driver Shield utilize the code developed to activate the DC motor in both direction of clockwise and counter-clockwise. Thus the DC motor will rotate the gears and roller bars, releasing (rolling down) the fabric sheets and covering the outdoor cloth hanger. The operation done in oppose when the LDR sensor module detects sunny condition (roll up of the fabric sheet). This project is an advantageous effort for the users of outdoor cloth hanger where people can save their money, energy and time.
