The application of renewable energy usually based on solar energy, wind energy, fuel cell, and biomass will give benefit in the future. There is various benefit of application in renewable energy in order to distributed energy such as eco-friendly to the flora fauna habitat, flexible and expanded in distributed power generation and also give a new option that able to use in smart grid. The standalone microgrid configuration is operated in individually system including the distribution generation and bunch of loads. The direct current (DC) microgrid conception offered the reduction in losses due to the multiple conversion and also able to connect with the renewable sources. The power converter technologies in this DC microgrid are used to concern about equipment protection and safe operation. This study shows the modelled of DC microgrid with used of renewable energy including solar energy and wind energy to supply to the Kampung Kapitangan, Pulau Banggi Sabah which have electricity disturbance. The proposed DC microgrid also have battery energy storage (BES) which attached to the DC load by passes through the buck converter. The modelled of wind turbine system are connected to the DC bus with an AC to DC rectifier. The used of boost converter are applied in photovoltaic (PV) solar system and also wind turbine system which to sustain the voltage of DC microgrid. In PV solar system, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is used to extract maximum power to the PV circuit. The DC microgrid overall system was performed and simulated in MATLAB Simulink software.
