my.uniten.dspace-214212023-05-05T04:26:49Z Design and Development of Wind Energy System by Harvesting Wind from Air-Conditioning Condenser Unit Noor Izzati Adilla binti Kechik Wind Speed of Condenser Unit Power Generated Wind Turbine System Interim Semester 2020/2021 The blow and flow of wind in Malaysia are unstable and unpredictable. Wind velocity is light, smooth and multi-directional with an average velocity of 0.3 m / s, which is not really suitable as an alternative energy resource to naturally ventilate indoor spaces. As a result, most Malaysians use air-conditioning systems to achieve thermal comfort but lead to air pollution. Air-conditioned buildings had caused warmer cities to construct urban heat island due to exhaust air. Hindsight, the exhaust air from the outdoor air-conditioning unit (condenser) that emits hot air into the surrounding region is believed to be useful as an alternate source of wind power. A 3 horsepower (HP) condenser with an average velocity of 5.09 m/s on the lower side is chosen to be tested. The speed in the range of 4.90 m / s to 5.09 m / s is required to produce a minimum of 32 Watt – 38 Watt based on the power curve of the manufacturer of VAWT. The result has shown that the theory of generating wind power from exhaust air is feasible as it successfully produced 10 400 mAh for 26 hours and 52 minutes of service, respectively. Renewable energy is seen as a potential way to address the problems of environmental pollution and global warming, and there has been a growing interest in using renewable energy technology, especially in urban areas. It is unfortunate that the wind characteristics in Tropical Malaysia are unpredictable, multi-directional and chaotic, with the exception of two seaside locations (land and sea breeze) and hilly areas (wind prevailing). 2023-05-03T16:51:03Z 2023-05-03T16:51:03Z 2020-09 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/21421 en application/pdf |
